The Artisans

Winemaker

Archetype12 Wines is an artisan craft winery and cidery that crafts our wines based on the ethos and personalities of Carl Jung's primary Archetypes... Archetypes are central figures cutting through every race, religion, and language, conjuring particular characteristics and idiosyncrasies. The Creator, for example, is nonconformist and self-expressive while The Jester is instead playful and surprising. Archetype12 was born on the premise that you could find yourself, through the traits and Archetypes you personify, reflected in the very wines we hope you'll love most! Terroir Incognito is our community-driven cider project which relies on urban-foraged crowd-sourced fruit to craft experimental French-and Spanish-inspired ciders and other experimental Libations to further forge stronger community ties between all.

Meet the Winemaker:

Jason has been making wine in Oregon for seven years now. His fascination with wine led him to embark on what he calls his "WineBA", a two-year deep dive into the world of wine, inclusive of formal academic studies, leading operations at an industry-leading winery, and working multiple harvests. This exposure to different philosophies, styles, and approaches to winemaking only helped to solidify his own and harden his resolve to craft notable wines for Archetype12 Wines, fueled by his passion for philosophy, introspection, and bringing lovers of small-batch artisanal libations together to clink glasses.

Chocolatier

Hi, I'm Zsuzsi, I'm making the ReTreat products. This is my story:
Reduce - Reuse - ReTreat™ is a small chocolate business based in Portland, OR. started this business in February 2021, when I realized that I cannot find any chocolate that comes in returnable packaging. As our family lives as low waste as possible, we try to refill and reuse everything. I get all our cleaning and skincare products from refill businesses, we use our own containers and mugs when we get take out or we use GoBox, we make our own plant-based milk, etc. (Of course, we’re nowhere perfect, ignore that disposable coffee cup sitting in my garbage can, when yesterday I was desperate to get a latte, and I didn’t have my own mug).

ReTreat's packaging is zero waste. Single use plastic packaging has had a detrimental effect on our earth's ecosystem. Your chocolates and truffles will come in an aluminum container. This can be returned and reused. Please, please return them!! These tins are resistant to corrosion, so they can be washed and sanitized over and over again. Aluminum is lightweight and durable. If your tin has a dent or damaged, you can still return it, I will recycle it for you. Also, the paper liner at the bottom is compostable.

ReTreat's ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible. I believe that supporting local farmers is crucial to environmental sustainability. Even if it costs more to get these ingredients, it worths it for our planet and economy. Imported ingredients are ethically made and fair trade.

The Artists

Jennifer Lichtenberg

Jennifer is originally from the East Coast and has called Portland home since 2004.

Creating and making have always been a part of who Jennifer is, but the art-making process for her is one where she continually challenges herself to push through fears, insecurities and vulnerabilities. She has found that the other side of doubt and resistance is joy…lots of joy.

Jennifer is a collage,  book artist, and primarily a painter. Her painting process is intuitive and spontaneous. She paints wet-on-wet and works quickly, responding in the moment to the interplay of color and texture on the canvas. The process forces her to let go of control and welcome unpredictability. As she works, she finds the painting takes on a life of its own becoming like a butterfly, emerging from the chrysalis. She’s realized that the wisest thing she can do is yield to the art-making process, allowing the story to unfold on the canvas.

Through her art, she hopes to inspire and provoke, while awakening beauty and hope.

Jennifer has been showing her work in solo and group shows and art festivals around the Pacific Northwest since 2008.
